Introduction
Every few years, the world’s most promising pianists convene in Salt Lake City for the prestigious Bachauer Artists Competition to compete for fame, cash, and prizes. The event returns in June 2024, marking 48 years of welcoming the world’s most elite pianists to Utah.
37 pianists, representing 11 countries, will compete in Salt Lake City this June. An International Jury will award prizes and medals totaling over $106,000 US. In addition, a Student Jury will award $1000 to a competitor of their choice, chosen from the 12 Semifinalists.
The Student Jury will be comprised of young pianists, age 15-18, who have studied piano at least three years.
Not only will this experience be a valuable educational opportunity and musical experience, but it will provide insights into the professional world for those pianists who might be considering future participation in international piano competitions.
The members of the Student Jury must commit to listening to all performances of the Quarterfinal Round I (June 17-18), Quarterfinal Round II (June 19-22), and Semifinal Round (June 24-25). Performances begin at 1 pm daily and conclude at 9:30 pm daily, with dinner breaks from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
Members of the Student Jury will be invited to attend the Final Round (June 28-29) and take part in the Awards Ceremony on the stage of Abravanel Hall (June 29).
Members of the Student Jury who miss any performance for any reason may not vote for the Student Jury Prize.
Applicants invited to serve on the Student Jury who do not live in the Salt Lake City area must provide their own housing and be accompanied by a parent or legal adult chaperone.
Thank you for considering being part of the excitement of the 2024 Gina Bachauer International Artists Competition!
