Introduction
2023 GINA BACHAUER INTERNATIONAL PIANO FESTIVAL
The 2023 Gina Bachauer International Piano Festival will feature evening concerts by guest artists and former laureates of the Bachauer Competition. Events include two days of Master Classes, Discussion Sessions with Guest Artists, and a Festival Student Concert presented by participating students. The Festival Student Concert will be recorded, with Festival Students receiving videos of their performances. All events will be held at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in downtown Salt Lake City.

Eligibility and Applications
The Gina Bachauer International Piano Festival will accept six students (ages 14-18). Applicants should submit the following materials no later than April 15, 2023:
• Completed Online Application Form.
• Video Recording: A thirty-minute program including at least two contrasting styles.
Repertoire to be performed in Festival events may be selected only from the audition repertoire. All works prepared for the Festival must be memorized and ready for concert performance.
• Publicity photo.
• Biographical Sketch no longer than 300 words.
• $40 Application Fee.
Festival Students will be announced no later than May 1, 2023.
Repertoire
• Each Festival Student will choose a work (or works) from their 30-minute program to perform in each Master Class (individual movements from large-scale compositions are accepted). The Master Class performances should be 12 minutes or less.
• Segments from each Festival Student’s 30-minute solo program will be selected for performance in the Student Concert.
Festival Student Activities
• Festival Students will receive free tickets to the evening concerts.
• Festival Students will attend all four master classes and perform in two of them.
• Each Festival Student will perform in the Student Concert.
• Discussion Sessions will be arranged based on Festival Student schedules.
Discussion Sessions and Rehearsals
Discussion Sessions will be coordinated by Chaeyoung Park. Specific times and topics will be arranged to accommodate student schedules. Practice time will be provided at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center. Additional practicing will be available at the homes of host families.
Chaperones
For all Festival Students, one legal adult must act as Chaperone and accompany the Festival Student to all Festival events, including the entire stay with Host Home. If a parent or legal guardian is not acting as the Chaperone, a parent or legal guardian must give signed approval that the Chaperone is approved to accompany the Festival Student.
Host Homes
If requested, a volunteer Host Home in the Salt Lake City area will be assigned to host the Festival Student and one Chaperone for the duration of the Festival. Meals, housing, practice piano, and Festival-related transportation will be furnished.
If additional guests or family members wish to accompany you, they are invited to make reservations at a local hotel. (The official hotel for the Bachauer competitions is the Little America Hotel, located two city blocks from the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.)
If Festival Students and Chaperones do not wish to stay with a Host Home, they may secure their own lodging. Meals, housing, and transportation will be their own responsibility. Practice pianos will be available at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center on a limited basis. Practicing schedules will be assigned by the Bachauer Artistic Director based on individual needs.
COVID-19 Policies
• Proof of vaccination will be required of Festival Students, Chaperones, and Host Homes.
• Proof of a negative COVID-19 for Festival Students and Chaperones will be required within three days of scheduled arrival in Salt Lake City.
• Proof of a negative COVID-19 for Festival Students and Chaperones will be required within one day after arriving in Salt Lake City.
• COVID-19 policies may be updated or revised as conditions change.

This Application Form and all other necessary documents must be received in the office of the Gina Bachauer International Piano Foundation no later than April 15, 2023.
